Beginning your Journaling - Mandatory

You have just invested in a course that’s teachings will impact all facets of your life. It is always important, when starting out on a new journey, to reflect upon what it is you hope to get out of your learnings (intentions) and how you will ensure you can make the very most of the experience.

We will be encouraging you to journal daily throughout this time together. Find a special notebook to collect your feelings. Below are some reflective questions to consider and answer thoughtfully. Take some time to think, meditate and carefully answer each.

• What do you hope to get out of this course?

• How much time will you have for self-practice and how will you create time?

This is for your use during this time, no need to email or hand anything in.

Setting Up Your Yoga Space - Mandatory (Online Students ONLY)

  • Create a "home shala" space that is safe and peaceful
  • It does not have to be huge, just a corner where you can roll out your yoga mat and have a quiet place away from the world.
  • Decorate it with spiritual or beloved objects and images that bring you a sense of peace and uplift you.
  • OPTIONAL: We would love you to share your space on the group facebook to connect and inspire others!

The Power of Now (Mandatory)

Breath Awareness Video - Mandatory

Your first LIVE class with Sunny will be Breath Awareness. This video is the pre-watch to that class, so get a head start by watching it now :)

Any video or lecture referring to the "Breath and Movement Manual" or "Breath Awareness Manual", please take the subject matter and refer to the "Yoga Postures (Asanas) Manual" and/or "Principles of Teaching Yoga Manual" instead. We have updated the Breath and Movement manual and changed its name to Yoga Postures (Asanas) Manual and moved some of its contents to the Principles of Teaching Yoga Manual.

Generally, if it's about:

A. Foundations (Meaning of Yoga, Role of a Yoga Teacher, etc.) / Breath / Principles of Asana/Breath/etc. / Breath + Pranayama / Breath Development / Asanas / Vinyasa Krama (Foundation) = refer to Principles of Teaching Yoga Manual

B. Foundational Cues / Preparatory Poses/Movements / Standing Poses / Flexors / Standing Balance Poses / Seated Meditative Postures / Core Poses / Bends / Folds / Stretches / Inversions / Vinyasa Krama (Stick Figures) = refer to Yoga Postures (Asanas) Manual
